The Cypher Chronicles: 9 Months

This is Cypher also known as Cy, Cy-fy, Cy-Guy and Bug (we started calling him bug when he started crawling. Like a bug... Get it???). This week he turned 9 months!

Let me tell ya about my main man here. He is such a social butterfly and always the life of any party. Every weekday He looks forward to playing with other kids at the gym's daycare WAY more then Mom looks forward to going to the gym... he is such a joy and and a blessing in our lives! And brings a light to everyone he meets. I love him so much and cannot believe how fast time is flying by.

Sunday Crepes!

One thing I love most about my Husband is that every Sunday Christopher really likes to be a hero and make breakfast for the family. Normally he makes a breakfast staple like eggs, pancakes or waffles, but this morning he decided to step out of the box and try something new! I have to say I get a little anxious when Chris decides to experiment with new recipes, you never know if he is going to follow the recipe exactly or if he is going to use it as a general 'guide line'... Chris is pretty unpredictable when it comes to food. This guy will eat almost anything and his wife (*cough* cough* me) can be as picky as a five year old. Hey I know what I like and I have a tough time straying from familiar tastes.  So my mission this morning was to observe and make sure that Chris didn't venture off the instructions and make something like tapatio flavored crepes.

I have only had crepes one other time in my life and the only thing I remembered about them was that they seemed super fancy and had yummy heaps of whip topping on the top, anything that has heaps of whip topping on the top is alright by me.

As we found out Crepes are surprisingly very easy to make! The recipe consist of common items found in pretty much anyone's pantry and fridge, flour, milk, salt and butter. The only thing Chris changed, thankfully, was that instead of regular milk he used almond milk, which really made little to zero difference in taste or texture.

Chris just through all the ingredients into our Kitchen aid mixer and mixed the batter until it was smooth. what is easier then that?

The one thing that I think intimidates people, I know it intimidates me, is how the crepes are actually cooked  in a pan. The only thing I recommend is using a good medium sized pan and having a good non-stick spray. Pour a little of the batter, about 1/4th of a cup, in the middle of the pan and move the pan in circular motions until the entire pan is completely coded with batter.

Chris let the Crepes cook for about a minute one each side before removing them from the pan.

The best thing about Crepes is that they are  totally customizable! I likes mine with Nutella and powdered sugar. (forgive the blurry photo, or the fact that I have a less than stellar presentation plate... Hey I was in a rush to get these in my mouth!)

Chris added bananas to his and my Mother had whip topping and strawberries! the possibilities are literally endless!!

If you would like to try the same recipe we used click on the link below. They were soooo YUMMY!!
